The Four Seasons

I know this is a blog where I blah blah blah about being married and loving my husband and such, but I just have to take today and talk about three other loves in my life.

I just returned home from a weekend at my other home, back in the Middle East of America. I was there to spend three glorious days with the three glorious women who will forever be etched in my heart as the world's greatest friends.

Indecision, Great Ideas & Milk

Last week I got really sick. I'd like to blame my work environment and therefore have substantial reason to quit...but alas...I probably just need to start with sticking to a reasonable bedtime like any reasonable, responsible adult.

Or would going to bed at 9:30PM somehow make me more like a child?

To be determined.

Nonetheless, a truly childlike and irresponsible habit that I do have is my shameless love for ice cream.  I use the word irresponsible because ever since I was a child...I have been lactose intolerant. It's a sad, cruel fact of life for me (and surprisingly MOST Americans, though they are unaware!) yet it is one such fact that I refuse to succumb to.

So this past weekend, still recovering from my sickness and feeling far from wearing my fancy-pants on date night, my wonderful husband indulged the lactose-intolerant youth in me and took me to a place in LA I have always been dying to go: MILK.

The Peace of a Promise

In light of Japan's devastation, my heart has been all over the place with emotion, thoughts, feelings, and questioning....basically me in my own mind trying to make sense of what my mind cannot make sense of.

Then I came across this picture from our honeymoon in Kauai. It was taken right after scuba diving in the same havoc-wreaking waters now carrying the remnants of destruction.

Sometimes, we don't need to understand. Sometimes we just need a simple truth to silence our fear and realign our faith:

God is our refuge and strength,
   an ever-present help in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.
There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God,
the holy place where the Most High dwells.
God is within her, she will not fall;
God will help her at break of day.
[Psalm 46: 1-5]

My Two Cents on Marriage

I was chatting with my friend Jess today (who is every ounce of New York wonderful) and in the midst of summer plans, big apple sandwich shops, and new clothing purchases...she asked me a (go figure) wonderful question.

The answer to which greatly stirred my heart and seeing as how this is my blog dedicated to wifedom and married life, I thought I'd post my answer here.
