Last week was really fun for me.
I can't say the same for my husband.
For various purposes he had decided to fast from meat until Easter. Being a loving and supportive wife, I happily volunteered to join him. Now, let me first preface by saying that I am not a vegan/vegetarian. Though I spent a few years as a tried-and-true veggie muncher, I've always managed to find my way back to a sushi bar or (organic) chicken. I also love (free-range) eggs. And (raw) cheese. And (all kinds of) ice cream. And goodness gracious, Greek yogurt. Truth be told, I really wish I could be a vegan but for ease with the Mister and financial simplicity, its just not the best option at present.
However, that being said, let me also state that I do not like "man" meat. "Man" meat to me would mean anything living on land that does not fly or lay eggs: lil' piggies, Bessie the cow, Mary's little lamb, Black Beauty, Smokey da Bear...you get the picture.
I won't eat them. I won't cook them. I had my last non-tofu hot dog in 1998 and aside from the occasional "whoops! I thought this was turkey meat!"...haven't tasted it since. I just think its unhealthy, unnecessary, barbaric, inhumane, etc.

Things I Learned While Camping
![]() |
| Sequoia National Park |
Man and Wife went camping this past weekend to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park. When you live in the 6th most toxic city in the nation (thanks for the article, Mom) you come to realize an escape just isn't an occasional luxury... it's a downright necessity. Though I love living the city life, recently I had started to reach my limit of bumper-to-bumper, bad parking jobs (not by me, of course) and the unceasing soundtrack of Guitar Hero and shopping carts that stream outside my bedroom window.
My husband just wanted an excuse to use his hatchet.

LA Nut
I love nuts.
Always have, always will.
Adam and Eve had it made when God told them all the nuts and fruits and berries were theirs to eat. In my opinion, meat just isn''t needed in a perfect world.
So on one particularly domestic Saturday, I decided to put my nutty love to work and make my own freshly ground peanut butter. I had seen (and am still mesmerized by) the Whole Foods machinery that also does this, and so I thought, "It can't be that hard. I must do it too!".
